Help to prepare safety case reports
This information is for Accountable Persons (APs) of high-rise buildings to assist them in preparing safety case reports for Building Assessment Certificates.
The safety case report must demonstrate that all reasonable steps have been taken to prevent building safety risks happening and reduce the seriousness if they do.
Reasonable steps to take
These pages give examples of common situations that APs may find in existing buildings. These can help decide what steps are reasonable to take to manage and mitigate risk.
This does not necessarily mean expensive and extensive work is needed but promotes a proportionate approach to the risk.
Each page also has a link to a downloadable version with flowcharts that suggest short and longer-term actions to manage mitigate risk.
The pages are designed so APs can refer to the particular situations that are relevant to them when preparing safety case reports.
