Role of accountable persons
This free digital building safety toolkit has been launched by the Building Safety Regulator (BSR) to support those legally responsible for more than 12,000 high-rise residential buildings across England.
Accountable and Principal Accountable Persons (APs/PAPs) are now central to the safety of England’s high-rise landscape, making it vital to stay ahead of the evolving building safety regime.
As the key duty holder under the Building Safety Act, PAPs must manage fire and structural safety for the entire building.
As well as their duties as an accountable person, PAPs must:
- register existing high-rise buildings with the Building Safety Regulator (BSR)
- register all new buildings and secure completion certificates before residents move in
