The Building Safety Regulator was established in response to the Grenfell Tower tragedy. The new regulations brought about by the Building Safety Act, 2022 aim to prevent such tragedies from happening again by:
- strengthening oversight and accountability in the design and construction industry

- ensuring the competence of building control professionals
- providing oversight on the safety and standards of all buildings
